Plenty of Jerusalem artichokes, few orders

This year, we haven’t managed to keep up with expectations. We have large quantities of Jerusalem artichokes coming out of the garden, but fewer orders.

Last year, we sold 200 kg, which motivated us to increase production. We thought the product would gain more and more popularity, but so far, demand hasn’t been what we expected.

Did we not promote it enough?

Did we fail to spark curiosity in those who had never tried it?

Has the product lost its appeal for those who already knew it?

Were we not effective enough in communicating the value of all those who planted, cared for, harvested, and packed it—all by hand?

Or is it the price?

Jerusalem artichokes are a superfood with huge potential, but sometimes, when people don’t understand the value, they assume that “if it’s expensive, it’s not worth it.” And we’re here to say the opposite: it’s absolutely worth it.

We are creatures of habit. It’s true that Jerusalem artichokes are a different kind of product, but they can be easily worked with great quality. And the price reflects that. We know how useful they are in the kitchen, and even when the market isn’t responding as we’d like, we still believe in the product. It’s one of those things you only truly appreciate once it’s gone.

We’re working to ensure that, even with lower demand at the moment, Jerusalem artichokes remain a standout feature of our farm.

After all, that’s how agriculture works: sometimes we have abundance, sometimes scarcity, and occasionally, what we have available isn’t necessarily what the market wants at that moment. Either way, we remain confident in what we do and are always ready to give our best.
